Homemade Valentine Boxes!

Third graders will have the opportunity to make their own homemade Valentine box at home this year! I would like family members to help them create a one-of-a-kind mailbox for all those special deliveries. The sky’s the limit when it comes to the different ideas you can create for a stylish Valentine’s Day-themed mailbox. You might want to consider creating a box that features one of the student’s special interests.

Mailboxes can be made from shoeboxes, coffee cans, tissue boxes, paper bags, cereal boxes — pretty much anything you can get your hands on. You might use wrapping paper, construction paper, wallpaper scraps, fabric, or craft foam to cover the box. Decorate with stickers, magazine pictures, felt, glitter, paint pens, pom-poms, lace, felt, flowers, or valentine graphics you print from your computer. Use your IMAGINATION to create a one of a kind Valentine box.  The boxes can be as simple or elaborate as you want. A third grade Pinterest board has been created and is listed below, if you need a starting place on your boxes.    http://www.pinterest.com/wilberc/valentine-boxes/

Valentine’s Day boxes can be brought to school starting Monday, February 8th. Our Valentine’s Day party will be Friday, February 12th at 2:30. I’m including a few pictures from previous years to give you a few ideas as well!
